I was brought up on a council estate with my brother and three sisters. Money was tight and as children we often had to go without in order to keep a roof over our heads. I was a shy and retiring child lacking in confidence and self-esteem, mainly due to my disadvantaged childhood. I learned from a tender age that we begin life from different starting posts, and to accept that we are all dealt different cards.
As a young woman, I dreamed of a white wedding and knew the only way to achieve it was to work hard. I took on additional work in the evenings with my fiance, cleaning offices to save up for the big day.
Sadly, after 15 years, my marriage ended. The finality brought with it depression and isolation. Drinking and smoking did nothing to heal my pain and for several months I lived in a dark and lonely place. My depression was at its worst when suicidal thoughts entered my head on more than one occasion. In time, medication began to help and I recovered from the depths of depression. I began to take small steps to rebuild my life.
My training as a life coach enabled me to see my life from a different perspective. As I questioned and examined my own behaviour, as well as that of those around me, I found an inner strength and confidence which, until then had been dormant for a long, long time.
My life experiences have proven to be one of my greatest strengths as a life coach. My disadvantaged upbringing has given me personal experience and greater understanding of how hard life can be. You can truly appreciate how something feels if you've experienced it first hand.
I've grown from my experiences, changed my mindset and have developed skills that are vital in getting through further challenges in adulthood.
As a life coach I am able to relate to others with empathy. My passion is to motivate, support and guide others, enabling them to embark on their personal journey and move forward with their lives.
